The Giver4 essays It is the future. There is no war, no hunger, and no pain. No one in The Community wants for anything. Everyone is provided for. Each Family Unit is entitled to one female and male child. Each member of The Community has their profession carefully chosen for them by the Committee of Elders, and they never make a mistake. In todays world, one of the most treasured resources is family and a home. In Jonass world, a family is all ways the same. There is one mom, one dad, one male child, and one male sister. All the homes are the same. The furniture was practical, sturdy, and the function was clearly defined. There was a bed for sleeping, a table for eating, and a desk for studying. In the desk there were only three books: a dictionary, the community volume, and the Book of Rules. In our world, life can take you anywhere. Either you can be rich or be a bum on the streets. In the book, your life was decided for you by the Committee of Elders. If you failed your job, you were released. For most jobs, once you have the job, you have it for life. The only exception is for the birthmothers. Once they have had three children, they become part of the Clean-Up Crew. In our life, we enjoy the world to its fullest extent. In the Giver, there is no color. Everything is black and white. Some people dont even get to enjoy life. Babies that are to light or unhealthy are released. Elderly people are released when they have no use to the community. People who fail with their job are released. In our day of living, the only way you would be put to death is if you committed a crime like killing. In their world, people are put to death, or what they like to call release, for simple reasons.
